Our client is a very well-established customs broker/freight forwarder in Windsor. They have a strong, customer-focused approach and an excellent industry reputation. This could be hybrid or remote in the GTA also, depending on qualifications and experience.

- Classify goods and get all necessary info for surtax, sima, TIBs
- Check entry and retype if incorrect
- Contact client for all info pertaining to shipments
- Dealing with all emails for the client-questions etc.
- Following each client’s individual SOP’s (this could mean rules around the use of CUSMA/annex, using different Customer centric online portals for communication, forwarding documents/CAD’s for review before confirmation)
- Reading customs D-memos for all import rules and regulations
- Applying applicable and appropriate tax, value for duty, annex codes.
- Receiving authorization for clearances (when documents are made out incorrectly, or from freight forwarders)
- Billing any additional charges per client SOP
- Collecting charges on a COD basis for certain clients
- Building databases to include OGD information
- Understanding all OGD departments and their regulated commodities.
- Processing RMD corrections, Voluntaries, C-type, Hand carried entries.
- Working on call after hours for weekend staff.
- Navigating the CARM portal
- Track & Trace
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders
- Several years of HS Tariff Analysis experience
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and make adjustments for changing workload
- Minimum of 5 years (+) of experience in a Customs Broker in Canada
- Post-secondary education in a customs related field would be an asset
- CCS Designate is strongly preferred
Compensation: $65,000 – $72,000 salary, according to industry experience, plus full benefits.
