We have been appointed by the CSCB to reach out to senior people in the Ottawa region regarding a VP-level position, which is outlined in general terms below.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in customs compliance/operations and border management, along with an interest in advocacy and change management. A collaborative, consultative approach to advocacy and managing change is the leadership style sought in the successful candidate. Innovation and ideas for improvement of programs and services will be supported.
Responsibilities:
- Consulting with stakeholders to determine needs
- Advocacy with CBSA officials regarding legislative program changes
- Implementing and managing changing programs with stakeholders
- Subject matter expert in customs and border management
- A full position description will be provided to qualified candidates
Qualifications:
- Managerial experience in a customs broker, consulting or trade advocacy organization, or a corresponding department within the CBSA or other relevant government departments
- CCS or CTCS qualifications desirable but not essential
- Strong technical knowledge of CBSA legislative programs gained in customs compliance or customs operations management roles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong consultative, organizational, problem solving and decision-making
- AMPS/Compliance, Audits, Valuations, Exportations knowledge base desirable
- A hands-on approach to serving the stakeholders
- Proactive in following up with stakeholders and providing feedback
- Team-player, focused on creating successful solutions to client problems
Compensation: The salary range is negotiable at a senior level, 5-6 weeks vacation and full benefits
