International Freight Forwarder – Ocean Exports Mississauga – Exclusive
– Hybrid position; 3 days remote, 2 days on-site

Our client is a global freight forwarder with a dynamic operations team. This position supports the international projects area, providing cross-trade services from Asia to the Middle East.

Duties:

  • Dedicated servicing of customer shipments via cross-trade from Asia to the Middle East
  • Shipments are both Ocean Exports (60%) and Air Exports (40%)
  • Training will be provided on Air Exports, if required
  • Act as the Authorized Cargo Representative, complying with the company’s Air Cargo Security Plan
  • Handling both email and telephone inquiries
  • Manage and coordinate the day to day shipments with overseas offices; pre-alerts
  • Volume is project-based, about 60-70 shipments, monthly
  • Using dedicated portals for data entry, tracking and tracing and daily updates to the client
  • Pre-plan transits/deadlines and most efficient routings for cross trade shipments
  • Maintain the rates established for this high volume client
  • Escalate key issues to management and obtain senior level support for problem solving
  • Working with Excel spreadsheets, importing data from their in-house freight software systems
  • Build strong working relationships locally with customer staff and management
  • Maintain organized, accurate client records and generate appropriate reports for management review
  • Ensure a high level of service and communication with customer and vendors, responding promptly to overseas enquiries, trouble shoot and resolve customer concerns

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Post secondary degree preferred but not essential; CIFFA training an asset
  • Minimum 3-5 years ocean exports required; cross-trade experience is an asset
  • Certificates of Origin and full knowledge of ocean exports documentation for review of Errors and Omissions (E/O)
  • Cargowise experience is an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills in particular, Excel.
  • Strong communication skills; personable, diplomatic and positive
  • A proven track record of effective customer service with major accounts
  • Excellent planning, follow up and monitoring of shipments skills
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly self motivated
  • Note: Air Exports training will be provided if required
