International Freight Forwarder – Oakville, ON
Very well-established international freight forwarder with a strong reputation in multiple types of cargo.
This is a position involving rates, operations and customer service performed at a high level. The salary range is above the industry standard, as is the bonus and other benefits. The final package depends on industry experience. On-site position.
They are looking for a well-rounded ocean import/export background, with experience in handling a full-service desk; working with customers, vendors and internal sales.

Duties:
- Ensure that all read requests files are completed in accordance with corporate requirements
- Complete thorough research for client requests to provide most advantageous solutions based on client service and cost needs
- Maximize revenue through ongoing evaluation and negotiations of best solutions while working closely with vendors and clients alike
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure quotation deadlines and shipment requirements are met
- Provide professional, prompt and efficient customer relations
- Support and manage ongoing vendor and partner relationships
- Resolve client customer service issues
- Attend industry functions and additional industry training as required corporately to enhance knowledge and to maintain certification required to provide logistics services
Experience:
- 2 to 5 years experience in ocean imports and exports in freight forwarding
- Knowledge of break bulk and project cargo is a definite asset
- Container de-stuffing, Ro/Ro and Lo/Lo create procedures is desirable
- Knowledge freight rates negotiations for ocean and cross-border services
- Experience and monitoring freight shipments from port to customer location, including cross border truck shipments
- Strong numeracy skills
- Excellent computer skills and attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize well working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Experience/Qualifications:
- 3-5 years (+) of Ocean Imports/Exports experience in an international freight forwarder
- Excellent communications skills, written and verbal
- Familiar with steamship lines, trucking arrangements, and procedures for delivery of shipments
- Computer skills, organized and priority conscious; work well under pressure
- CIFFA training is a strong asset; knowledge of Incoterms
- Post-secondary Diploma/Certificate in Logistics an asset
