Customs CSR – Ocean – Mississauga, ON

Salary range: 55,000-63,000, plus comprehensive benefits

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding customer service and foster positive relationships with our clients
  • Determine the type of shipment for clearance and set up according to arrival time
  • Expert in Ocean Freight imports
  • Handing experience with all modes
  • Arrange deliveries
  • Pay required charges
  • Surrender OBLs
  • Communication with CBSA and other government departments
  • Monitor releases to avoid storage charges
  • Determining credit type and obtaining approval
  • Handle all types of release to include C type, Hand Carried, temporary imports, CITES, vehicle imports and shortages.
  • Setting up Hard Copy Entries when applicable
  • Independently be responsible for handling all appointed incoming live shipments for set up
  • Update client profile notes for new vendor information
  • Create specific shipment notes if required for out of the ordinary information pertaining to a clearance
  • Obtaining the necessary information for SWI for Form 1’s, E29B, CFIA,
  • Enter all charges applicable that pertains to a shipment
  • Obtain information for OGDs (Other Government Departments)
  • Answer all incoming phone calls and emails in a timely manner
  • Check voice mail and return calls within a timely manner
  • Assist clients with their requests, providing guidance, and expertise in various situations
  • Able to provide written supporting information in professional format
  • May be involved in educational projects for presentation to the department
  • Tracking and tracing shipments
  • Monitor all shipments for CBSA approval
  • Work with agents, customers, vendors, trucking companies, airlines, forwarders and steamship lines for setting up shipments or obtaining information
  • Work as a member of a team extending help when able
  • Statutory Holiday coverage as scheduled (2 to 3 statutory holidays per calendar year)
  • Afterhours phone handling – If required you will share the responsibility of the phone handling during our closed hours and on weekends
  • Must have CCS or 5 or more years Ocean experience

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to all customers
  • Ocean Freight Imports experience – Rating background is an asset
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and make adjustments for changing workload
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Customs Broker in Canada
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Familiar with Zoom and MS Teams
  • Strong communications skills
  • CCS Designation is an asset
