Our client is a global freight forwarder with worldwide offices and operations in all modes of transport. They are focused on growth and expansion in ON and Western Canada.
You will lead the growth of revenues, develop and implement a strategic vision for a dedicated team of approximately 100 employees in multiple offices in Canada.
Objectives:
- To double the GP growth in Canada in 5 years through transitioning from a transactional based business model to more of a corporate/global sales mix
- Achieve 20% profit growth year over year
- Further expand the operations in ON, Central Canada and the West Coast
- Grow both organically and through acquisition; research the acquisition of an existing freight forwarder in the Greater Vancouver Region
- Open a new Vancouver office, a key objective delayed due to the pandemic restraints
- Digitalization of existing operations to enhance productivity and manage costs
Current operations in Canada:
- Management team is seasoned, very well-rounded and professional
- Ocean imports is a very good market with high growth potential
- Air freight would account for 60% of total business, presently, Ocean freight about 40%
- Asian markets and Transatlantic tradelanes are the prime focus
Leadership profile:
- Sales & Marketing driven, focused on business development first
- Excellent financial acumen; comfortable with numbers
- Familiar with digitalization as it applies to RFQs, marketing and increased productivity
- Visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit; builder and developer
- Strong market awareness, able to take intelligent risks and assess the potential profitability of business opportunities
- An indomnitable attitude, wants to conquer the market and make an enterprise flourish
- Excellent interpersonal relations; inspiring, tactful, collaborative and diplomatic
- Forward-thinking and confident with a can-do attitude
- Strong negotiation and customer cultivation skills, pivoting quickly to master new challenges
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years + of Canada-based international freight forwarding sales management experience, ideally; possibly a combination of sales and operations management experience in international air and ocean freight
- Strong leadership skills; inspiring and highly self-motivated
- Excellent industry reputation – well respected by carriers and customers
- Good financial management skills
- Possesses vision, passion, drive, and the desire to exceed expectations
Compensation:
- Negotiable salary well into six-figures, general salary area between 250K and 350K
- Bonus based on company profitability
