The Branch Manager is responsible for planning daily and weekly workloads to achieve departmental and facility objectives through the corporate values of integrity, diversity and delivering expected results. This role is charged with the goal to effectively and efficiently manage the development and directions of the operational team to drive the growth of revenue, technical productivity and promote high quality customer satisfaction.

Job Duties:

Human Resoruces:

  • Dispute/complaint resolution (shared)
  • Attendance/Holiday/Sick leave approval (shared)
  • Coach, council and mentor all level of staff/succession planning
  • Setting goals and objectives for all staff
  • Employee performance reviews
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees as required
  • Conduct routine one on one meetings with staff
  • Orientation and training of new staff (shared)
  • Recruitment and interviewing of new staff
  • Manage the morale in the department by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers and customers
  • Payroll maintenance
  • Ensure all employees adhere to company policies an.d procedures
  • Conflict resolution

Operations:

  • Monitor and follow up on daily/weekly/monthly reports (shared) if applicable
  • Analyze daily, monthly and annual department key performance indicators
  • Monitoring of P/L statements and costs to ensure profitability
  • Implementing new procedures to improve efficiencies
  • Communicating senior management initiatives to branch
  • Delegating and ensuring work is distributed evenly (shared)

Quality Control:

  • Random QC of invoices (shared)
  • Random QC entries for tariff, origin, NAFTA (shared)
  • Sign off on;
    • High value shipments
    • RMD correctors, YS0’s, and B2’s as required (shared)
Other:
  • Representative for Company at local broker/customs meetings (shared)
  • Account assigning
  • Delegation as required

  • Liaison with other departments, IT, Accounting, Consulting, Freight, etc. (shared)
  • Trust account signing authority and reconciliation/audit (shared)
  • Point of contact to deal with customs and client issues as required – escalation (shared)
  • Analyze customer concerns and present prompt and efficient resolutions
  • Meet with key accounts for the branch on an annual basis or other accounts as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 or more years with previous supervisory/management experience in the customs brokerage industry
  • Industry related studies required (CCS, professional designation, CTCS)
  • Knowledge and experience in problem analysis
  • Knowledge or organizational behavior methodology an asset (conflict resolution)
  • Strong background in customs brokerage procedures and processes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong computer software knowledge as well as_ Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Attention to detail, high level integrity, confidentiality and accountability.

Work Conditions:
  • Some travel may be required
  • Ability to attend and conduct meetings if required (clients, customs and or staff)

Compensation: Salary range up to six figures, plus performance bonus of 6% and full benefits
